What you should know before you arrive for your massage.

Health History and Information

When you arrive we ask that you complete a brief health history form. This is important to help the therapist better understand your needs, and to provide the safest possible massage services for your condition(s). All information given to the massage therapist is confidential, and may only be released to your doctor with your written permission. After a brief interview with you, the therapist will show you to your massage room.

Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us and proper draping techniques are used to ensure modesty. You can be assured of complete privacy to disrobe, and to dress after your session ends.

Our massage rooms are always kept clean, are comfortably heated, and are lit with candles. There may be music playing during your massage treatment. If at any time you find the music or the lighting to be distracting or not to your taste, do not hesitate to request that your therapist change it.

Will the massage be painful?

Most of the time, massage is completely painless and very relaxing, and our goal is to treat every client with the utmost care not to cause any discomfort. However, sometimes during certain types of massage such as deep tissue or sports massages, it is possible that you may experience some pain during the session, usually as an indication of an area that may need more work. If there is excessive pain, be sure to let your therapist know immediately.

After the Massage

After your massage, you should feel deeply relaxed. We encourage you to take a few moments to rest and enjoy the sensation of well-being. Take your time getting up from the table. If you need assistance, ask your therapist. It is very helpful to drink fresh, pure water after your massage to help your body gain equilibrium. At the end of your session is a great time to book your next appointment!

We offer the following types of therapeutic services ... you're sure to find the one that's right for you.

  Swedish Massage

This is the most common type of massage therapy. Therapists use long smooth strokes, kneading, and circular movements on superficial layers of muscle using massage lotion or oil. Swedish massage therapy can be very gentle and relaxing. If you've never had massage before, this is a good one to try first.

  Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. The massage therapist uses slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle. Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury. People often feel sore for one to two days after deep tissue massage.

  Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy massage is massage therapy with the addition of one or more scented plant oils called essential oils to address specific needs. The massage therapist can select oils that are relaxing, energizing, stress-reducing, balancing, etc. One of the most common essential oils used in aromatherapy massage is lavender. Aromatherapy massage is particularly suited to stress-related conditions or conditions with an emotional component.

This ancient Oriental method of massage is applied to pressure points on the hand and foot that correspond to individual parts of the body. This technique promotes relaxation, relieves stress and releases energy throughout the entire body.

  Hot Stone Massage

Heated, smooth stones are placed on certain points on the body to warm and loosen tight muscles and balance energy centers in the body. The massage therapist may also hold stones and apply gentle pressure with them. The warmth is comforting. Hot stone massage is good for people who have muscle tension but prefer lighter massage.

  Sports Massage

Sports massage is specifically designed for people who are involved in physical activity. But you don't have to be a professional athlete to have one-it's also used by people who are active and work out often. The focus isn't on relaxation but on preventing and treating injury and enhancing athletic performance.

  Prenatal Massage

Also called pregnancy massage, this is becoming increasingly popular with expectant mothers. Massage therapists who are certified in pregnancy massage know the proper way to position and support the woman's body during the massage, and how to modify techniques. Pregnancy massage is used to reduce stress, decrease swelling, relieve aches and pains, and reduce anxiety and depression. The massage is customized to a woman's individual needs.
